Grab your passport and get ready to start on the journey of a lifetime. Global Addiction is an online learning environment for the BTEC Travel and Tourism Qualification. This site will help you get most out of your course and help you prepare for a career in the travel and tourism industry.

In June 2006 I completed a Masters Degree in Interactive Multimedia, This project focused on e-learning environments for teenagers (post-sixteen) whom have difficulties in traditional class room environments.

The driving aim behind the project was to build a site which appealed to the students visually, and provided the student with a platform which encouraged self motivated learning. For example, content pages provide enough information for students to gain a basic understanding of the subject and use key terminology which would encourage the student to find more detailed resources else where.

The site was designed around a user group of about 20 students and three travel and tourism lecturers from Manchester college of Arts and Technology (UK). It was decided very early on that the best way to encourage the students to use the site was to appeal to the student’s individuality and provide a tool that does not look like a traditional online learning environment. Also, to provide a site which allowed the students to seek out the educational content and build a site around their own personal needs.
